- Mac Tichenor, SARC Chairman of the Board, opened the meeting with a SARC update.
- The 2011 Career Development Awardees were introduced.
- Jeffrey S. Abrams, MD, Associate Director of the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program at the National Cancer Institute discussed restructuring of NCI Cooperative Groups and the impact on rare tumors such as sarcoma.
- Innovative clinical trial designs were discussed by Don Berry, PhD and John Crowley, PhD.
- Jeffrey Trent, PhD, founding President and Scientific Director of the Translational Genomics Research Institute, discussed molecularly informed therapeutic options.
- Raphael Pollock, MD, PhD gave an update on the Cancer Genome project and the inclusion of sarcoma.
- SARC009 Study Principal Investigator, Scott Schuetze, MD, PhD, presented an update on the chordoma subset from SARC009.
- The newly formed scientific leadership committees were introduced by Developmental Therapeutics Committee chair, Chand Khanna, DVM, PhD and Clinical Research Committee chair, Shreyaskumar Patel, MD.
- An update on SARC trials was provided by Rashmi Chugh, MD, SARC Medical Officer.
- SARC members were invited to engage in a discussion of the future agenda for SARC with Mac Tichenor, SARC Chairman of the Board and Denise Reinke, SARC President and Chief Operating Officer.
