2024 SARC Semiannual Meeting as part of CTOS |
SARC’s Semiannual Meeting as part of CTOS will be held 3:30-5:30 pm PST on November 13, 2024 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego. Sessions will include: - Overviews on SARC-sponsored clinical trials and other initiatives, including our pan-sarcoma virtual tumor board, sarcoma subtypes research initiatives, and the patient-facing Sarcoma Centers Registry.
- Sessions on:

“Platform trials in malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors”, encompassing preclinical and clinical platforms, including a panel discussion with Q&A.
- “Removing roadblocks to GIST cure”, shining light on opportunities and controversies emerging from the October 2024 GISTT Summit in Germany (see below), and
-
“Ewing sarcoma cell plasticity creates CAF-like states that remodel the microenvironment”, illustrating the “mechanistic bent” of the SASS conference now held annually in Bethesda, MD, USA (see below).

2nd Annual SASS Conference |
With 160 scientists, clinical investigators, and patient advocates participating, the second annual SASS (Strategic Advances in Sarcoma Science) conference took place Sept. 16-18, 2024 in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. SASS is co-facilitated by NCI and SARC, focusing on basic science and translational/clinical challenges and distinguished by emphasizing continuity and breakout workgroup deliverables. | GISTT Summit Held on October 16th-18th |
The GISTT Summit took place Oct. 16-18, 2024 in Essen, Germany, attended by more than 100 clinical investigators, scientists, and patient advocates from 17 countries. This inaugural conference resulted from a collaboration between the leadership of FORTRESS (Forum for Translational Research in Sarcomas) and SASS (Strategic Advances in Sarcoma Science), with SARC helping to facilitate. | SARC Leadership Marks Rare Cancer Day |
SARC leadership helped mark Rare Cancer Day on September 30, 2024, on both a local and national level. Steven Young, SARC President & CEO, and SARC Board of Directors member John Hopper, spoke at an event in Greenwich, CT, highlighting the importance of clinical trials to advance treatment progress for sarcoma and all rare cancers.
