CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE ON SARC SCIENTIFIC LEADERSHIP COMMITTEES
SARC scientific research committees have been established to work in collaboration overseeing our platforms and processes, facilitating the conduct of multi-institutional research, and supporting SARC’s primary mission – to identify new interventions for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sarcoma.
Listed below are three committees, along with a brief description, key responsibilities and the time commitment for each. You are welcome to nominate yourself, or others. Feel free to share this with any interested colleagues.

- CLINICAL RESEARCH COMMITTEE:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide medical representation at meetings with potential collaborators
- Determining priorities for subtype specific research
- Reviewing protocols and manuscripts
- The in-person Clinical Research Committee meeting is held annually in early June in Chicago, IL. It is held the Monday of ASCO
- The 4 conference calls are generally 1 hour in length and are held at the end of each quarter, alternating Monday’s and Wednesday’s
- Each term is 3 years with up to one additional consecutive term (maximum will be 6 consecutive years).
- DEVELOPMENTAL THERAPEUTICS COMMITTEE:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist SARC building a virtual portfolio of preclinical and translational services focused in sarcoma
- Prioritize agents based on therapeutic target, mechanism of action, areas of unmet clinical need, and potential for clinical development in SARC
- Provide scientific representation at meetings with potential collaborators
- An in-person meeting, when feasible, may be held jointly with the SARC Clinical Research Committee in early June in Chicago, IL. It is held the Monday of ASCO
- The 4 conference calls are generally 1 hour in length and are held quarterly on Friday’s
- Each term is 3 years with up to one additional consecutive term (maximum will be 6 consecutive years)
- CONCEPT REVIEW COMMITTEE:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in peer review/discussion of concept scientific rationale
- Prepare and review literature as appropriate prior to concept review
- Review and evaluate new concepts submitted to SARC, review written feedback that will be provided to the investigator
- An in-person meeting, when feasible, may be held jointly with the SARC Clinical Research Committee in early June in Chicago, IL. It is held the Monday of ASCO
- The committee will meet on an as-needed basis, within 30 days of receipt of a new concept
- Each term is 3 years with up to one additional consecutive term (maximum will be 6 consecutive years
