Dr. Hettmer graduated from medical school at the University of Tübingen in 1999. After completing her internship in pediatrics at the University of Bonn she came to the United States in 2001 to study tumor ganglioside metabolism in Stephan Ladisch’s lab at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Hettmer subsequently completed pediatrics residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and pediatric hematology/ oncology fellowship at the Dana-Farber Children’s Hospital Cancer Center in Boston, MA. Since 2007, Dr. Hettmer has studied the cellular and molecular origins of sarcomas in skeletal muscle at Harvard University.
