Lillian Guenther SARC (Sarcoma Alliance for Research Through Collaboration) is pleased to announce Dr. Lillian “Lily” Guenther as the 2022 SARC Career Development Program Award recipient. At the 2022 SARC Semi-Annual Meeting, Dr. Jonathan Fletcher announced the recipient of the award. Dr. Guenther undertook a fellowship in pediatric oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, MA where she was a post-doc in the laboratory of Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier and gained expertise in loss-of-function genome-scale CRISPR-Cas9 screening for targets in pediatric sarcomas. She is now an Assistant Member in the Department of Oncology, Division of Molecular Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she started her independent laboratory in August 2022. Her group focuses on identifying novel targets in osteosarcoma, with particular interest in DNA damage repair mechanisms. Dr. Guenther’s career development project will investigate SMARCAL1, a helicase enzyme and chromatin remodeler, in MYC-amplified osteosarcoma.
