SARC Multidisciplinary Tumor Board (SMTB) Updates

SARC Multidisciplinary Tumor Board meets the second Friday of every month at 1:00 p.m. ET. Each case that has been presented has provided captivating dialogue. Since inception, we have discussed 24 cases. Our most recent cases include:  

• 26-year-old male who presented with two weeks of right flank pain associated with hematruia. The examination noted a suprapubic mass. Pathology showed an undifferentiated small round cell sarcoma. Molecular profiling identified an EWSR1-WT1 fusion.  
• 21-year-old female who presented with a right flank pain that would go away when she stopped physical activity. The patient experienced some nausea and vomiting. CT was performed and showed a large mass on or around the patient’s liver.  Biopsy showed Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor, F1 positive but not positive for germline.
• Female patient self-appreciated a left upper quadrant mass, following several months of abdominal pain. An ultrasound was performed and showed a mass in the left mid/lower hemi-abdomen. The subsequent image guided core needle biopsy confirmed diagnosis of high-grade leiomyosarcoma.

These cases have allowed physicians to seek advice from multiple physicians from varying backgrounds, experience, and expertise that you could not get with a local tumor board. Learn more about the SMTB.
