Rare Cancer Day

SARC leadership helped mark Rare Cancer Day on September 30, 2024, on both a local and national level. Steven Young, SARC President/CEO, was a featured speaker in Greenwich, Connecticut discussing the importance of clinical trials to advance treatment progress for sarcoma and all rare cancers. Steven pointed out some of the many diagnostic advancements for rare cancers, including sarcoma and the need for funding support.  SARC Board of Directors member John Hopper, who also spoke at the Connecticut event, has been instrumental in compelling the bipartisan US Congressional Cancer Caucus to pass a resolution declaring support for Rare Cancer Day, which Hopper helped create in 2018 in his role as Co-Chair of the National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD) Rare Cancer Coalition.
